Know All Men by these presents that I Sam^ll Oliver of Eliz:Town in y^e County of Essex & province of East New Jersey [sponsor]^? for divers good Causes & Considerations me thereunto moving but more - Especially for y^e Sume of Six-pounds Currant money of this province of East New Jersey aforesd to me in hand payd already y^e receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge & myself therew^th fully satisfied Contented & payd Have Granted bargained & sold and by these pres[ents] Do grant bargain & sell unto Thomas Terrill of y^e S^d Eliz: towne Blacksmith all y^t lot or parcell of upland Scituate lying & being [in]^?, in y^e bounds of Eliz:town aforesd towards Raway river being by Estimation tenn acres of upland be y^e same more or _^^{be it} less & bounded westerly by y^e land of Edward Jones northerly & Easterly by y^e land of y^e s^d Thomas Terrill & southerly by y^e land of me y^e s^d Sam^ll Oliver the Southⁿ side whereof begins at of y^e home of y^e s^d Thomas Terrill & Runs thence westerly twelve Chains & three quarters In length to a ston (placed at y^e Southwest Corner of y^e s^d Lott of land) marked wth OT on y^e top thereof Together w^th all & all manner of Libertyes priviledges & advantages to y^e s^d Lott or parcell of land belonging or in any manner of wayes appertaining To Have and To Hold the s^d Lott or parcell of Land & premises w^th their & Every of their appurtenances unto him y^e s^d Thomas Terrill his heirs & assigns for Ever to y^e only proper use benefit & be hooff of him y^e s^d Thomas Terrill his heires & assigns for Ever, And I y^e s^d Sam^ll Oliver for my Self my heires Exe[cuto]rs & adm[istrato]rs Do Covenant Grant promise & agree to & with y^e s^d Thomas Terrill In manner & form following viz, that I y^e s^d Sam^ll Oliver my heires & assigns at y^e time of y^e makeing hereof am Lawfully seized to my own proper use of y^e above bargained premises of a good sure perfect & absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee simple w^thout any Condition or limitation of any use or usses To alter Charge Change or otherways defeat these presents and th[e] Same is free from any preincumbrance whatsoever and I y^e s^d Sam[^ll] Oliver for my self my heires & assigns Do hereby further promis[e] & agree to & with y^e s^d Thomas Terrill his heires & assigns that y^e s^d Sam^ll Oliver my heires & assigns shall & will at any time he[re]after & dureing y^e space of five years Immediately Insueing & after y^e date of these presents make do or Execute or Cause to b[e] made don & Executed such further act or acts thing or things dev[ice] or devices Conveyance or Conveyances assurance or assurances in y^e Lan[d] whatsoever at y^e proper Cost & Charges in y^e Law of y^e s^d Thomas Terr[ill] as by him y^e s^d Thomas Terrill his heires or assigns or his ortherr Councill learned in y^e Law shall be reasonably devised advised or required for y^e better surety & sure makeing of y^e above s^d bargained premises unto y^e s^d Thomas Terrill his heires & assigns fo[r] Ever In wittness whereof I y^e s^d Sam^ll Oliver have hereunto set my hand & seal in Elizabethtown aforesd this 8^th day of January 169⁶/₇ Samuell Oliver (seale) Sealed & delivered In presence of John Boardman Sam^ll Whitehead —
