Know All Men by these presents that I Samll Oliver of Eliz:Town in ye County of Essex & province of East New Jersey [sponsor]? for divers good Causes & Considerations me thereunto moving but more - Especially for ye Sume of Six-pounds Currant money of this province of East New Jersey aforesd to me in hand payd already ye receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge & myself therewth fully satisfied Contented & payd Have Granted bargained & sold and by these pres[ents] Do grant bargain & sell unto Thomas Terrill of ye Sd Eliz: towne Blacksmith all yt lot or parcell of upland Scituate lying & being [in]?, in ye bounds of Eliz:town aforesd towards Raway river being by Estimation tenn acres of upland be ye same more or ^be it less & bounded westerly by ye land of Edward Jones northerly & Easterly by ye land of ye sd Thomas Terrill & southerly by ye land of me ye sd Samll Oliver the Southn side whereof begins at of ye home of ye sd Thomas Terrill & Runs thence westerly twelve Chains & three quarters In length to a ston (placed at ye Southwest Corner of ye sd Lott of land) marked wth OT on ye top thereof Together wth all & all manner of Libertyes priviledges & advantages to ye sd Lott or parcell of land belonging or in any manner of wayes appertaining To Have and To Hold the sd Lott or parcell of Land & premises wth their & Every of their appurtenances unto him ye sd Thomas Terrill his heirs & assigns for Ever to ye only proper use benefit & be hooff of him ye sd Thomas Terrill his heires & assigns for Ever, And I ye sd Samll Oliver for my Self my heires Exe[cuto]rs & adm[istrato]rs Do Covenant Grant promise & agree to & with ye sd Thomas Terrill In manner & form following viz, that I ye sd Samll Oliver my heires & assigns at ye time of ye makeing hereof am Lawfully seized to my own proper use of ye above bargained premises of a good sure perfect & absolute Estate of Inheritance in fee simple wthout any Condition or limitation of any use or usses To alter Charge Change or otherways defeat these presents and th[e] Same is free from any preincumbrance whatsoever and I ye sd Sam[ll] Oliver for my self my heires & assigns Do hereby further promis[e] & agree to & with ye sd Thomas Terrill his heires & assigns that ye sd Samll Oliver my heires & assigns shall & will at any time he[re]after & dureing ye space of five years Immediately Insueing & after ye date of these presents make do or Execute or Cause to b[e] made don & Executed such further act or acts thing or things dev[ice] or devices Conveyance or Conveyances assurance or assurances in ye Lan[d] whatsoever at ye proper Cost & Charges in ye Law of ye sd Thomas Terr[ill] as by him ye sd Thomas Terrill his heires or assigns or his ortherr Councill learned in ye Law shall be reasonably devised advised or required for ye better surety & sure makeing of ye above sd bargained premises unto ye sd Thomas Terrill his heires & assigns fo[r] Ever In wittness whereof I ye sd Samll Oliver have hereunto set my hand & seal in Elizabethtown aforesd this 8th day of January 1696/7 Samuell Oliver (seale) Sealed & delivered In presence of John Boardman Samll Whitehead —
